CHARITY BENEFACTOR SINCE 2022

His Story

On the evening of December 27th, Max was at his grandparent’s and complained of a headache. Shortly after, it was discovered that Max was suffering from a brain hemorrhage due to a ruptured arteriovenous malformation (AVM). He was CareFlighted to Children’s Health Dallas, where he underwent an emergency craniotomy. Max spent over four weeks in the ICU in a medically induced coma to allow his brain to heal. Afterward, his right skull was reattached, and a VP shunt was put in to allow for fluid to drain. He also has had surgery to remove the AVM.

After over 30 days in Inpatient rehab, Max required another shunt revision. He then regained strength to be able to do an intensive 5-day neuro program. He then moved to weekly therapy consisting of speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy, along with additional programs to help support his full recovery. His left side remains significantly weaker than his right, an intense therapy schedule will remain to gain as much function before the brain hemorrhage.

Max has a long road to recovery, but he is working hard and continues to make forward progress.
